We contacted this clinic during a medical emergency involving a rescued puppy with suspected distemper and neurological symptoms. The doctor contacted was the same veterinarian who had initially treated our pup. Assistance was refused by the receptionist and later justified by the incorrect assumption that we had “switched doctors.” This was not the case. We had consulted another veterinarian earlier only due to surgical cost constraints, which should not negate access to emergency guidance or basic professional communication. During the call, the main doctor’s language and tone were crude, dismissive, and inappropriate for an emergency situation. Rather than addressing the medical urgency, the conversation focused on lectures about protocol and personal conduct, delivered in a manner that was distressing and unprofessional toward panicked pet parents. In crisis situations, clarity, respect, and compassion are essential. This experience fell far below those expectations. Edit: During my emergency call regarding my puppy, I did not request any specific drug or treatment, nor did I use abusive or inappropriate language. I spoke solely as a panicked pet parent seeking guidance in a medical crisis. I was informed by the clinic receptionist that Dr. Suzanne D’Souza was unavailable due to surgery, which I later learned was inaccurate. Dr. D’Souza subsequently refused assistance and accused me of misconduct. I categorically reject this accusation. Declining to provide help is a professional decision; however, misrepresentation of availability followed by false allegations against a distressed client is unprofessional. Expressing urgency in an emergency does not constitute impoliteness or misconduct. This message is to formally clarify the facts and to correct the record.
