Great ambience, decent food but third class service. Waited for an hour for a cold coffee and eventually we had to cancel it as it was just not coming. So if you want to be in a cafe and sit for hours and not very hungry, this is the place to be. Njoy!

Went in for a quick Friday lunch and ended up getting the Sadhya! Served on banana leaf - the menu was excellent! Especially the rasam and paal payasam. The manager took good care of us. Ambience and atmosphere is beautiful as well. Recommended for an authentic south indian food experience!!

Classic example of how great food can be ruined by absolutely horrific service! Oota Thindi, serving Pan South Indian cuisine is a sure-shot candidate for one of those restaurant makeover shows! From the get go, the reservation process starts off in confusion. The person managing the front desk is absolutely clueless about taking reservations and then subsequently calling people. I kept a tab on him thatโs why I was able to get a table! Having arrived at the table, the waiting staff is completely clueless. It took a really long time before someone came to take order. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu though. And made some great suggestions. The menu is another disaster with too many options that most people arenโt even familiar with. Even being a south Indian who lives in Tamil Nadu, some of menu items were confusing. A simple classification of Starters, Main course etc is preferred. We ordered some starters which arrived on time. As for the rest of our courses, the wait time was painstakingly long. The waiters have no clue whatโs going on with orders. And there are too many of them mulling around avoiding talking to customers. So many other customers were also getting frustrated by the delays. One person even yelled at the manager! Though he just shrugged it off and walked away! The food is the only redeeming factor as is the nicely done ambience. Although the main hall is too brightly lit for dinner. I find myself reluctant to recommend this place despite the good food because of the appalling service! How is it so hard in Mumbai?! Just hire some very capable Shetty people who have mastered the art of running a South Indian restaurant! Overall, a very disappointing experience at Oota Thindi!

I ordered food from Oota Thindi, Borivali West, and was extremely disappointed by the excessive amount of oil used in the dish. The curry was literally floating in oil, making it unpleasant to eat and raising serious health concerns. Traditional food does not mean food should be drenched in oil. Such cooking practices are unsafe for regular consumption, especially for customers mindful of cholesterol, heart health, and overall well-being. The taste was completely overpowered by oil, and a large portion had to be discarded. Restaurants have a responsibility towards their customersโ health. I genuinely hope Oota Thindi takes this feedback seriously and improves its cooking standards. Until then, I would strongly advise the restaurant to control oil usage and maintain healthier food quality.
