I visited this orthopedic doctor for persistent pain in my left leg. Initially, I was prescribed medication for 10 days, but there was no improvement. On my follow-up visit, the doctor suggested it could be a nerve-related issue (femoral nerve gliding) I consulted a neurologist, underwent treatment, and also completed a spine MRI, which showed no nerve-related problems. Despite sharing these results, the orthopedic doctor continued prescribing nerve-related medication without investigating other possible causes. Even after repeated visits and worsening pain, imaging like X-ray or MRI was not advised proactively. Instead, I was recommended physiotherapy, which unfortunately worsened my condition significantly and led to limping. After nearly two months of ongoing pain and deterioration, I insisted on further investigation. Only then was a hip MRI suggested. The MRI revealed that I had Stage 2 Avascular Necrosis (AVN) in both hips. Due to the delay in proper diagnosis, I eventually required core decompression surgery. This experience was very disappointing. Early imaging and a broader diagnostic approach could have identified the issue sooner and potentially reduced the severity of intervention required. I would advise others to seek timely second opinions, especially if symptoms persist without improvement.
