Mere mention of Flamingoes- launches all pink imaginations, indeed a site to see them all flocking, flying and huddling together on the flats of Navi Mumbai. My family took a boatride in March 2023. The guides were helpful and the experience in the evening 3-5 pm was fabulous. Got chance to watch other species of birds as well, on the tree tops, during the in-out location of the boat. Only negative was the smelly waft of stench/putrid smell of rotting proteins/waste, i guess.

13-feb-2022, Bhandup pumping station birdwatching area includes variable habitat. It is riched with saltpans, grassland, creek shore and marshland. I spotted 70 species of birds along with 100+ flock of flamingos. Go when low tide is there you'll get many waders to see. Auto can go upto ticket window. Parking is available. You have to pay 50 rs entry fees to get inside l, we were 2 so I have paid 100 (see photo for ref.). I am attaching photos for your reference, please go through them.

Hidden gem in Mumbai and a great place for bird watching esp flamingoes during Dec and Jan. This place gives a country side feel when you enter here with salt pans and village style houses. There's a bit of off-roading trail which you can do with your cycle and also go on this road with your bike and 4 wheeler. When you reach the end point, there's a broken mangrove walkway that gives you a pristine view of the mangroves. Also, there's a jetty point that flows through the creek. There are too many mosquitoes so wear a full sleeve clothing. There's a watch tower point which needs to be maintained and through that you get a view point of the creek and see the birds as well from here. There's an entry fee of Rs. 50 at the entrance that has started since the last one year but I hope that does enough to reduce the thrash thrown inside this beautiful place.

The viewing tower definitely needs a complete overhaul as it is junked and scary to get on the top with no side railings. As far as this place is concerned, no bird lover on earth can miss the beauty of the sights and sound of this massive green zone.
