Recently visited The Munchbox Thali (at the location where 5 Spice used to be), and it turned out to be quite a wholesome experience. At around ₹600, the thali is incredibly elaborate and served in beautiful brass plates and bowls, which immediately adds a royal touch. The spread includes 2 farsan (we had dhokla and tikki), 4 vegetables (including a paneer dish, a seasonal preparation, a potato curry, and a sprout-based dish), along with 2 types of rotis and puris. On top of that, you get 2 dals, kadhi, and 3 varieties of rice including khichdi. There’s also a salad, 3–4 types of chutneys, a chaat item, and 2 desserts — for us, it was seasonal Hapus aamras and moong dal halwa. And yes, expect generous use of ghee in almost everything. Valet parking is available, which is definitely a big plus given the busy Borivali area. Be prepared for a wait — 99% of the time there’s a queue, though they’ve thoughtfully arranged ample seating downstairs. The dining hall is on the first floor and can accommodate around 75–80 people comfortably. A thoughtful addition is a single-person seating lift, making it convenient for elderly guests to access the dining area on the first floor. The ambience is a standout — it genuinely gives you vibes of royal palaces from Udaipur or Jaipur, making the experience feel special rather than just another meal outing. Service deserves a special mention — the staff is warm, attentive, and serve with genuine care and enthusiasm. Coming to the food, everything felt fresh and had a homely touch. The flavors were balanced — not overly spicy or greasy. While the potato curry and a couple of vegetable dishes could have been better, the rest of the spread was quite satisfying. Overall, a great place for a hearty, traditional Gujarati–Rajasthani thali experience with a royal ambience. Worth the wait if you’re in the mood to indulge!

I am really really happy with the service which we got at The Munchbox Thali. We booked 2 tables for 8, and we ordered Jain Thali. The food was Jain friendly, that is, no onion and no garlic, although some restaurants fail to prepare it correctly. Best items which I loved in the thali were: aamras, chhaas, paneer, and dal, and all the other items were great too. The servers were really polite and not even waiting for us to actually call them. They were always at their toes to serve us. 100% recommended for family dine-ins, and a great family outing.
